NamsanSeoulTower with GnagnamStyle

My first trip to asia after Covid started in Southkorea. Still difficult to enter the country and having a lot of paperwork in front, i also teamed up with a new distributor in the bicycle field. Also time to do my first ride in this beautiful country.

We started the day with a meeting at OD Bike´s headquarter including their own shop in the city of Seoul. When i say city it is quite difficult to get the size as we talk about a city with 24 mio people living there. My contact point, Logan Hur, also a cyclist offered himself to join a ride with me. The bike i got from them as they also distribute Merida in Korea.

We started at their headquarter but with a good network of bike paths it is quite easy and nice to ride the town. So we quick had reached Hangang the 2nd longest river in the country.

Logan wanted to show me one of the most popular rides in town and so we had to go west passing a lot of bridges conecting the traditional part and the sourroundings of Seoul. Crossing one of them brought us closer to our first highlight which is Namsan Tower located on top of a little mountain park. The outlook was great and the first time i got a feeling of the size of the city.

After a little descent we were passing Deoksugung Temple and the city hall following the main road which did put us in front of the Kings Palace. From there one more climb needed to be done. This time a little longer with a nice gradient. Reaching the top we again hit a touristic target with Bugak Palgakjeong a wooden temple in a nice park. Also from there we had a great view to the city and also back to Namsan Tower.

It was time to ride back and do a break in a little cafe which you never would find not knowing of it. A nice talk and some explanation about korean mentality were given from Logan before we needed to go back to enjoy the awesome sunset at Hangang River. A little Gangnam Style dance closed the nice loop with a new bike friend in another country.
